Born and raised in the Philippines, my research explores identity, the concept of the gaze, and diasporic narratives. Working primarily across painting, drawing, and sculpture, I investigate form, space, and colour through processes of construction and deconstruction. Using line as a tool for fragmentation and the dissolution of boundaries, I aim to create holistic compositions while embracing visual ambiguity. My practice is guided by instinct, influenced by personal memory and the language of shape and colour.
Fusing art history, philosophy, personal childhood memories, and critical art theory, historical documents and works of art from late Middle Ages to the 20th century serve as points of reference, informing both the content and context of my work.
